Does Corporate ESG Performance Improve Export Intensity? Evidence from Chinese Listed Firms

Although there have been numerous studies on environment, society, and governance (ESG), its impact firm export has not often examined. In this paper, we use the panel data of Chinese listed firms a newly constructed ESG index to estimate intensity. We further test likely channels through which can affect intensity, including innovation channel financing constraints channel. The findings show that corporate performance imposes significantly positive analysis shows influences intensity constraints. Lastly, heterogeneity boosting effect firms’ mainly originates from large state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in sample. This paper suggests policymakers should pay attention ESG, improve information disclosure give financial support small non-SOEs.
